Cover up turned accent

A little date that called for an accent piece.  For some reason this summer I didn’t get to enjoy the beach or pool much therefore didn’t get a chance to wear my original design cover up or top by Norahs Khan.  So decided I’d wear it to add a little flare to a denim on denim fit.

Now this piece was designed with summer in mind, but I’ve turned it into an anytime of year piece.  It is actually long enough to cover all my important parts & next summer I will use it the way it was intended.

All items worn are from my current wardrobe except the clutch, new to my accessory inventory.

Cover up (accent piece): Norahs Khan

Denim button down shirt: Target (similar)

Skinny Jeans: GAP

Yellow envelope clutch: Snatch It Up & can be purchased via snatchitup100@gmail.com

Shoes: New Direction via Belk (older item in my wardrobe & no longer sold, but similar available)

Graphic Tee Casual Friday

Who said t-shirts could not be worn with a blazer?

This casual Friday look is a graphic t-shirt paired with denim, worn with a boyfriend blazer & comfy leopard print slide-ons.  Thought to wear heals, but decided nah; why wear heals on this lovely Friday when I’ve been in heals all week?

IMG_8904 The blazer was worn to keep the outfit work appropriate. There’s just something about adding a blazer to a fit that can take it to the next level. The blazer is “that accessory!”

No blazer & still cute

No blazer

How inappropriate this would’ve looked in the work place?  Not at all, but one must follow rules. “The guns” were out!!! He, he!!!

Since the color scheme was brownish, orange, earthy tone I decided on gold accessories.  Good ole gold!!  And how fitting for fall!

Slim bootcut denim- American Eagle Outfitters (similar)

Leopard print slide-ons- Old Navy

Boyfriend blazer- Target

“Rockout” graphic tee- Forever 21

By the way, all items are from my current wardrobe; shoes & blazer fairly new, but worn a few times already.

Oh, the glasses were just an extra added accessory, compliments of a movie theater; old 3D frames.

It’s Fall!!

autumn-trees

Fall is here, yeppie!!!  This means time to transition our wardrobes.  For some reason fall (autumn) & winter are my favorite seasons of the year; I can take spring too, but summer- nah. Fall & winter fashion possibilities are endless.  These seasons are the perfect time to show one’s creativity in layering, accent pieces, accessories, etc.

Know that I am a huge believer in using what’s in one’s current wardrobe, but I am also a big fan of replenishing & revitalizing your closet inventory. A fall “makeover” is exactly what my current wardrobe needs on the “work flow” side. I am ready to venture more into skirts, dresses, printed slacks & untraditional work shoes. Basically, I want to be on the less traditional side of “work flow” wear.    No more playing it totally safe!!  big smiley2 I will still keep my attire work appropriate.

Here are a few of my fall fashion basic must-haves:

scarves (in an assortment of colors & prints)

hats (fedoras, caps, top hats, etc.)

ties  (yes, women can wear ties too)

dresses

clutches

leather or faux leather jackets

denim jackets

& boots of course.

These items can be found at a variety of stores, but not limited to these locations: H&MEY Boutique, Charming Charlie, Express, New York and Company, Zara, Old Navy/GAP/Banana Republic/Piperlime, Francescas, Dress Up, Macy’s, Alloy Apparel (just to name a few).

Remember, it is ok to have fun with colors.  It’s fall, but colors are part of fall too.

Colorful Casual Friday

A colorful casual Friday it was, using all items from my current wardrobe.  Totally enjoying the mild summer weather we’re having in Atlanta; thankfully it has started to cool down making way for the fall. Hooray!

IMG_8860

Of course, I had to work, so I kept it simple, yet colorful.  The Banana Republic floral pump paired with GAP patchwork straight leg jeans & a neon sleeveless Old Navy blouse.  I am totally obsessed with neon & so is the rest of the fashion world.  Because this was a work fit I didn’t over do it on the accessories. New York and Company wallet used as a clutch.

Casual Workday

A casual workday for me thanks to supporting the United Way Atlanta.    IMG_8822Thank God for days like this when jeans can be worn in the middle of the work week. I work in a business casual environment so  keeping my casual looks professional as possible is my main goal, while keeping them “flavored.” All items in this outfit are from my current wardrobe.

Those who know me personally recognize the pink blazer, purchased at Charlotte Russe, as it is one of my favorite blazers & go to pop of color fix.  The secret to keeping this blazer around since 2011 has been the dry cleaners.  I have no issues taking inexpensive items purchased to the dry cleaners.  Heck, being able to wear it over & over again is the goal. Tan top purchased from one of my favorite work apparel stores, New York and Company paired with men’s relaxed fit jeans from American Eagle Outfitters & floral Banana Republic pumps.

IMG_8826      IMG_8828     IMG_8827 Went easy on the accessories to keep the fit clean & simple.  Accessories compliments of Queen Latifah’s perfume purchased at Macy’s, COACH, Brighton & Nine West.

Dinner Party

IMG_7850 IMG_7851 IMG_7844

Dinner party outfit using most items from my current wardrobe.  It’s quiet alright to repeat your clothing; heck, that’s the reason they were purchased.

Strapless top new to my closet from a local Georgia designer Norahs Khan.  The top, not something I’d normally wear, but I am slowly trying to venture out of my comfort zone, plus Norahs Khan designs are original must haves.

IMG_7851

The denim and shoes have both been part of my wardrobe for some time now.  The denim are skinnies from American Eagle Outfitters and off white with gold healed Rock & Republic pumps from Kohls.  Went light on the accessories as the top was enough of a statement piece. Being strapless it was only appropriate to do longer earrings; so not my norm!  I am more of a stud or small to medium sized hoop kind of girl.  Remember, in some cases more isn’t better; moderation was just the thing needed to keep this outfit classy.

Business Casual Workflow

IMG_8693 I work fulltime in a business casual environment & due to the chilliness of the office I wear blazers. I totally love blazers & feel everyone should have at least 2. That’s at the least!  They are a great way to add color to what’s considered a plain outfit or a great way to dress up a casual fit.  Think of “the blazer” as an accessory or an accent piece because that’s exactly what it is.  Of course, originally they were used for professional suiting. Not anymore!!

IMG_8697

I wore this BCX red blazer, new to my wardrobe as a pop of color to a solid black fit & to add professionalism to the fit.  And no, I am not a Falcons fan…ha, ha! The Jessica Simpson pumps are fairly new to my wardrobe.  Blazer & pumps purchased on sale at Macy’s.

The blouse & skirt have both been part of wardrobe for some time now. The blouse I honestly cannot remember where it was purchased, but the skirt is from Dress Barn.
